I Work at Night

Within the ring of summer

I work at night

the rain is falling

my heart is late

and there are no shores

across these old waters.

As if ghosts were approaching

I work at death

the light of the earth is

falling toward the night

with the smell of rotting wood.

Like barking without dogs

stones reveal the touch of time.
