Besides being a singer/songwriter and actor Kris Kristofferson has represented
to me that ideal: 'I'm gonna live before I die' There are few who
stand up for what they beleive in and fewer who remain standing when they
perceive themselves alone.
Perhaps the greatest poet/songwriter of our age. Danny O'Keefe is a
singer/songwriter from the Pacific Northwest whose songs are lyrical masterpieces
'It is dangerous to be right when the percieved authorities are wrong'
to paraphrase Voltaire -- Bruce Cockburn is the embodiment of this ideal.
His words have been banned from MTV due to their political nature and yet
everyone in the Americas has danced to his tunes. His lyrics are ferocious
in their biting and yet his message is a delicate balance of rhythm and

There is no other artist today or... who has taken his art and used it for
the sole purpose of enlightenment. Albeit what Nick Cave sings about, although
it is straight from the world we live in, is not what most people want to
hear about. I feel that if everyone were to take the time to listen to the
words of Nick Cave we would live in a world where I would not be compelled
